What Causes Small Painful Bump And Bruise On Back Of Ear?

I bumped my head slightly located on the back of my ear on my head I now have a small bruise and a bump that is recognizable is this normal to happen. bump is painful when touched and sometimes makes me feel dizzy. Is this something I should get looked at or is it just an natural way of healing. Also when turning my head the opposite way I can feel the pressure of the bump. It takes my body a while for bruises to show appearance and go away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

To have hit head followed by bump on bony part is usual to happen. Being painful to touch suggests bony injury which needs to be investigated as it's accompanied by dizziness. We should exclude injury to internal ear caused by the jerk. Please consult an ENT specialist for physical examination followed by imaging investigation as per need. You can use ice pack to relieve swelling and take anti-inflammatory drug over the counter like Ibuprofen

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
