What Causes Small, Painful, White Splotches On The Right Side Of The Tongue?
I have had small, painful, white splotches on the right side of my tongue for over a month now. I have tried daily rinse with warm salt water, daily rinse using hydrogen peroxide, I brush and floss after every meal, but the painful splotches won't heal.
As per your complain it seems that painful white splotches on the sides of the tongue seems to be due to either formation of apthous ulcers or can be due to rubbing of the sides of tongue to the teeth and in case if you have sharp edges of the teeth it can be a cause for splotching and pain.. It can also be due to continuous rubbing of the tongue leading to hyperkeratosis.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical examination and investigations like Biopsy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now you can apply numbing gel over it.. Take a soft and bland diet.. You should do warm saline gargles and also cool water rinses.. Suck ice pops.. Maintain a good oral hygiene..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
