What Causes Small Red Bumps On The Legs And Hands Of A Child?
My 9 yo daughter broke out w lrg red welps on her legs and a few on her arms and one on the palm side of her hand. They only sometimes itch. Looks very similar to a welps from a mosquito bite but there are far to many for that. They are making her so sore that she won t open or close that hand and her ankles are very swollen due to the welps. I ve given her high dose Benadryl for two days and the look better, swelling is way down, but the healed looking ones now look like bruises. She says they do not feel bruised. Today no Benadryl and there are some new ones popping up on her thigh and calves. Is this an allergic reaction or some type of virus? No fever or tiredness either.
Hello, While it is difficult to say without seeing the lesions, the fact that they subsided with an antihistamine does tend to point to hives or an allergy of some kind. So long as she has no other symptoms, she could be taken to the doctor on a non-urgent basis. The lesion on the hand raises the possibility of hand foot and mouth disease, a harmless and self-limited viral infection that will resolve on its own.
