What Causes Small Red Spots On The Arm After A Blood Test?

Today I went to Life Lab for a blood test. A staff jabbed the needle in my arm very quick, I felt very painful and immediately saw many little red spots spread out on my arm. I told the staff the way she did causing my red spots. She said she always did the same way and the red spots were not related to her.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The red spots are very likely due to a local reaction that you may have had during the blood test.

When the nurse withdraws blood she may also apply alcohol or other chemicals to clean the skin or may apply band-aids over the puncture area. All these, and even the latex gloves, in some cases, may cause an allergic reaction.

It is important to discuss this episode with your doctor so they may keep a note and be cautious in case they will need to do blood tests or minor surgeries in you.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
