What Causes Small White Lump On Gums After Pre Molar Tooth Extraction?

I had a premolar tooth extraction yesterday and after I removed the gauze, noticed a small white, fleshy lump in the site of the extraction. I am not suffering undue pain and there is no bleeding. Can you please tell me what the white substance could be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query small white lump on gums after premolar tooth extraction symptom of rapid healing as it is naked bone formation which is whitish in color. Need not to worry about it.

Clot got dislodged after repeated touching the socket area and this whitish area underneath is bare bone. It will not delay healing.Try touching socket area with tongue.

I would suggest you not to smoke as it will delay healing. Try to avoid smoke till the time socket would not heal properly as it will cause inflammation and can leads to formation of dry socket.

Maintain basic hygiene. Follow all the instructions given by dentist. Do warm saline gargles three times a day.

Chew very soft food from that side. Try to take plenty of fluids and cold water and ice creams as it will fasten healing.

Rinse mouth with antimicrobial mouth wash.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
