Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am std free and have been checked earlier this year in March for all types of studs and stis. However every now and again I get a build up of smegma under my foreskin. I am uncut, and wash it regularly, everyday, unless I forget. What could cause this smegma build up, and is it something serious?? I am 21, male, 13st, Caucasian
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Collection of smegma under the foreskin is a very common problem in uncircumcised males, it is also known as balanitis. This is result of collection of secretion & due to difficulty in cleaning of the area between the foreskin and glans penis. This could cause irritation & redness to glans penis. There is nothing to be much worried. You should clean your penis regularly with warm water by pulling the foreskin back.
If problem even persists after regular cleaning, then circumcision of penis( removal of foreskin) is advised.
Refer to a physician Hope this information helps
