What Causes Smelly Discharge From Belly Button During Pregnancy While Having Hernia?

I am 23 weeks pregnant, and having a clear smelly discharge come from my belly button. I am wondering what route I should take, it worries me because I have had surgery before to remove a cyst and the belly button was glued back together after surgery. I also have a umbilical hernia, any advice?

Hello,
You need a surgeon's advice on this after a clinical examination. From the description you have given, it appears as though you have some infection inside the umbilical region and the possibility of aggravation of the hernia due to the pressure of the enlarging uterus should also be considered. If it is simple infection of the umbilicus, it can be treated with some antibiotic and local cleaning with an antiseptic like Betadine lotion. Else, further treatment will be needed. Hope this helps.
