What Causes Sneezing Upon Waking Up From Sleep?

My son aged 9 usually have a habit of sneezing in the morning when i wake up. This habit is continuing for last few years. Every morning when he wake up, he continue to sneeze again & again for 15-20 times. After some time, he get normal. Sometimes, when he sleep in the evening, and then wake up, again the same problem of sneezing some times. he has been advised MONTECK LC KID daily once in night. If he takes the tablet he is ok, but if he stops the next day the same symptoms start. What treatment should he take. Is it safe to take the tablets for a long period. If so how many months...

Hi,

Your son's symptoms suggest that he has an allergy to bed dust cleaning of bed mattress & pillows with vacuum cleaner/wearing a face mask when sleeping are simple ways to avoid it.

Montelukast lc is to prevent an allergic reaction. Till the seasonal allergen stops. you can give it to him in a severe attack. But he is young, should be maintained on Levocetirizine s far as possible.

Get his allergy screening test done to recognise & avoid exposure to the allergen. Desensitization treatment is possible to get rid of allergic tendency.
