What Causes Soft And Peeling Nails While Suffering From Osteoporosis?

I am a 63 year old female and have a problem with very soft peeling nails. I always wear gloves an d take good care of my hands. My nails will grow nicely, but only if I baby my nails and be excessively careful about everything I do with my hands. By the way, I do suffer from osteoporosis, not on meds, just try to increase calcium intake, not sure if the two are related.

Hi,

Health of nails represents condition of bones in body. In osteoporosis the deficiency factors like calcium, vitamin D, proteins, magnesium, potassium, phoshorus and fluroid. Just dietary supplement can not serve therapeutic effect. That is why I feel your osteoporosis is not being managed well exhibited by your weak nails (very thin to peel it off easily done manually or by slightest of trauma), they also get brittle due to same cause. You are advised to consult physician, get needful investigations and start scientific treatment under expert advise.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
