What Causes Solid Mass On The Upper Part Of Breast Along With Tenderness?

I am eighteen years old. My breasts have always been symmetrical, but in the last few months, my right breast has grown a cup size bigger It is slightly tender to the touch and the tissue of my right breast is much harder and firmer than the left. Especially at the top and outer sides, where I can feel the most solid mass on the top. Should I be worrying about the possibility of cancer?

HI,
thanks for the query.
I have read & understood your concern.
Your symptoms suggest a fibrocystic breast. Here the pain is related to menstrual cycle. it gets more from mid cycle & starts to recede from menses.Don't worry, cancers are not painful unless secondarily infected... so it can not be cancer.
You can manage it at home by self care-
- wear bras with firm supports. wear sports bra while sleeping/ exercising.
- Take on the counter pain medicines like Acetoaminophen/ tylenol.. when pain is too much.
-you can use hot pack to get relief from pain.
* If the pain persists even after periods you should consult a gynecologist. You may be offered hormonal pills to control such pain in 3 cycles.
- some times needle aspiration/ surgical removal is needful.
Thanks

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Cancer is rare at your age unless there is a stronger family history.

It is possible that there may be infection present in one or more of the ducts or glands of the breast.
Though it is highly unlikely that cancer is present, your doctor will still need to rule this out by imaging eg ultrasound of breasts

If an infection is present, you would need antibiotics

I hope this helps
