What Causes Sore And Itchy Mole Behind Ear?

I have a sore and itchy mole just behind my ear, when I was younger it was caught with a comb and the top took off it. It grew back with no problems but it is now really sore and around the mole is sore. It keeps raising and then settling down. When it settles it doesn t hurt anymore. What does this mean?

Hello,

Sore and itchy mole behind the ears is indicative of infection. You should take care of your hygiene and keep the affected area clean. Orally you can take acetaminophen, one SOS when required, to ease swelling and discomfort. Take a course of Augmentin to help it get healed. If it persists you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, you may need intravenous antibiotics. Your treating doctor may recommend you few tests, investigations or take a sample for biopsy to detect any sign of skin cancer. If it is benign, your doctor may remove it by surgery or recommend laser treatment.
