Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Today I have a sore bump on the top of my head. I did not notice it until I tried to comb my hair. Touching it makes it hurt. Not too badly, but it is a rather large bump. I have not hit my head on anything and there is no reason for it to be there. It is simply there since I woke up.
A lump on the head can be caused by several things including head trauma, bone tumors and calcified bone.
Getting bumped on the head is common and if you have symptoms other than some localized pain, the lump will go away in a day or two. However, a lump on the head can also have a more serious cause such as a hematoma or concussion. These serious conditions require immediate medical attention
do not comb on that area and can apply cold compression on the same and if it is painful can take some pain killers in consultation with your doctor
if it does not subside with in a week please consult the surgeon and probable an x-ray or MRI may be advised
Wish You Good Health
Regards
Dr Sridhar K
