What Causes Sore Sinuses And Pain In Upper Gums?

Hi. I am 52. Last night my grandson accidentally headbutted my nose. Ouch! I took Arthritis Strength med this morning for a headache. I took a 3-hour nap this afternoon! I have iced 3 times. My sinuses are sore, the nose is just barely swollen, and even my upper gum hurts. Should I just continue doing what I have been doing? My face hurts, about a 5, but it is persistent. Thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
The headbutting by a small child can be dangerous enough as the nasal bones are fragile.
It is better to get an X-ray of the nasal bones in the lateral position.
Yes, the medicines you are taking should be sufficient and if there is no deformity , you can have a 'wait and watch policy'.
IF the problems persist or is there is nasal swelling, bleeding or so , you may need an Examination by an ENT Surgeon to have a proper clinical evaluation and CTscan if needed.
Normally all these problems are self-limiting as the body heals these lesions .
