What Causes Sore Throat Along With Breathing Difficulty?

I teach K-8 and everybody seems to have this weird cold or virus. Except mine is much worse. Tomorrow will be a week since I started with a sore throat. I lost my voice three days ago. I ache all over with really bad sinus pressure in my head and the feeling that something is sitting on my chest making it difficult to breathe. I have a painful cough that keeps me awake and now there are sores inside of my mouth. My glands are swollen and tender to the touch. I have not, however, had any fever so it can t be strep or pneumonia. What can I do to feel better? I have no choice but to go to work tomorrow.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to flu infection.

For that you can take tablet Tamiflu after consultation. Take tablet acetaminophen for fever.

Continue saline or Betadine gargles. Take steam inhalation.

Keep your self hydrated. You may require complete hemogram, chest X Ray after consultation. Take proper rest

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
