What Causes Sore Throat Along With Swallowing Difficulty?

hi. MY DAUGHTER has been having a sore throat and for the past 3 days and she has been sneezing also. maybe longer and well i had given her walgreens generic of mucinex and she has coughed up green mucus and now she still has symptoms like she talks like she has half a voice. I did look in her throat and its somewhat red. she says when she swallows it hurts. im not sure what is wrong if its her tonsils or something else . she has really been like this all week.

Hi,

This looks very likely if he has got inflamation of the throat that is pharangitis. This is mostly caused by a virus and heals itself in a few days.

However, if this persists for more then 5 days we generally look to rule out bacterial causes.

So I would suggest he should be seen by his doctor for further managemnt.

For the time being, you can give some paracetamol to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
