What Causes Sore Throat And Bloody Phlegm?

I just found this blog-it describes my problem also..... I have had a cold or the flu for 3 days, no coughing really just a really sore throat. Not runny nose, more like stopped up mucus. Along with the headache and everything hurts feeling. I finally got the mucus unclooged from the back of my throat today and what I spit out was like a bloody brain. It was pretty gross and now my throat feels a little odd. Should I be worried? I just had the same thing happen to me...a little scary...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms suggestive of acute pharyngitis infection.

For that decongestant like phenylephrine can be prescribed for five days.

Avoid excess spicy foods intake.

Warm water intake will be beneficial in such case.

Vitamin C will also be beneficial.

You should consult nearby physician for detailed evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
