What Causes Sore Throat And Body Pain In Spite Of Taking Ibuprofen?

I have had a severe sore throat, body aches since Thursday. I am taking ibuprofin every 4 hours, cepacol lozengers, hot tea with honey, gargled with peroxide. It feels like my throat is so swollen Im going to choke. What else can I do. No cough, fever intermit.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat and body pain in spite of taking Ibuprofen, well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons but it seems to me that these symptoms probably occur due to acid reflux, respiratory tract infection, bacterial infection and postnasal drip. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day. You should take steam twice a day. You should take small and frequent meals and avoid large intake at a time. You should do tepid sponging if it is severe headache. Take paracetamol for fever and headache. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order test like swab test , blood test , and viral culture test to rule out condition like acid reflux and strep throat . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxiclav at least for 10 days along with decongestant. Maintain proper hygiene. Drink plenty of water and liquids.
