What Causes Sore Throat And Pain In The Cheek Bones?

I have had a continuous red throat (tonsil area - worse on the right) for the last 4/5 months. It is not particularly sore in itself but there is soreness if I press up into the roof of my mouth on either side. Also at times there is pain if I press my cheek bones, and eye sockets - basically sinus areas. I have done all the usual sinus remedies but to no effect.I also had an inner ear infection,causing vertigo for which my doctor gave me antibiotics which cleared this up but not the throat. I have no digestion issues so can t see how it would be reflux. I have an ent appointment at Christmas but meantime wondered what you could suggest. It s really getting me down.My main fear is cancer - my grandmother died around my age (52) of face cancer.

Hi,
Thanks for the 2uery.
Basically cancer is notpainful to start with... it's only after secondary infection it gets painful.
Your areas of pain distribution along with ear infection &throat soreness could be due to allergic to start with secondary infection by bacteria to affect all ear.. nose..sinuses.&. throat.
Investigations to know more about the causative organism (cbc,throat swab culture &sensitivity test,CT scan for sinus &ear involvement..(as per expert advise) are needful
Consult an ENT surgeon for specific advise.
Till then you can take antibiotic like azithromycin /anti histaminic cetrixine along with seratopeptidase & nimesulide preparation over the counter./nasal inhalation ,saline gargles,rincing nadal cavity with normal saline .
