What Causes Sore Throat Causing Pain While Swallowing And Opening Mouth?

I have had a sore throat for over a week now and has progressively gotten worse. It fluxuates in pain throughout the day but it hurts to swallow and hurts the back of my throat when I open my mouth wide and stick my tongue out wide also. I have also had a stuffy nose for a while also if that could have anything to do with it
