What Causes Sore Throat Followed By An Altered Sense Of Taste?

I have had for almost 4 weeks now a terrible taste of salt in my mouth. It started with a sore throat that closed my throat and made my ears ache. I was prescribed antibiotics that may have reacted with my thyroid medications which these doctors did not ask about. The salt taste is so bad that I am nauseous 24/7. Is it a drug interaction that is causing this or is it some sort of illness. I am desperate and wish I had a good doctor to go to here in NJ.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is all a part of simple upper respiratory tract infection. Nothing much to worry as it will settle by a short course of antibiotics. Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics. Do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
