What Causes Sore Throat, Headache And Nausea After Intercourse?

I am a 29 year old female. I started my period two weeks ago. A few days ago I had a brownish discharge, and now it s a very thick clear (yet slightly brownish) discharge and this is not normal for me, especially since my period only lasts about 7 days. My Lower abdomen is sore and feels like there is a lot of pressure. I did have intercourse with my husband last week and it was painful with a lot of pressure to the point that I had to stop. Today I also now have a sore throat, headache, fatigue, a bit nauseous, and just achy all over. I assume this is just a cold coming on, but I hardly ever get sick. Should I see a doctor or give it another week or so to see if it runs its course?

Hello,
I have gone through the query and understood your concern. considering the fact that you never have any abnormal menstrual pattern, this spotting is abnormal. It is more likely to be due to hormone insufficiency. Infections of the urinary tract, vagina and the pelvis apart from general infections, can lead to this type of spotting. The sore throat you have now is unrelated to this spotting. Your symptoms are due to the infection. Please see a physician for proper treatment. Urinalysis is also needed to exclude infection. Trauma also needs to be excluded since you give a history of painful intercourse prior to the onset of this spotting. Temporary abstinence, detection of the cause and appropriate management will heal the condition. Take care.
