Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat, swollen glands and painful tongue is because of acute tonsillitis which is nothing but congestion and enlargement of tonsils in your throat. Painful tongue might be due to fever or drug allergy.

I would suggest you to start with Lidocaine mouth gargles before taking food and vitamin B syrups. Avoiding immediate lying down after food. Acute symptoms can be controlled with acid blockers such as omeprazole 20mg/pantoprazole 40mg before food for few days.

On a long term, avoid carbonated drinks, cheese, oily food and excess coffee. Maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Use tongue scraper very mildly to prevent further spread of infection.

If symptoms does not improve in few days, it will better to consult your doctor. Visit ENT specialist and get proper diagnosis for your condition.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
