What Causes Sore Throat With Mucus And Loss Of Voice?

I am a singer & suffered ischemic stroke (left hemiplegia) 4 years ago. Two months post stroke I noticed that I just could not sing & felt as if I was suffering from sore throat. Since then I have not been able to sing & need to slightly stress even while talking normally. My throat goes dry more often. I also feel like clearing the extra mucous in my throat frequently. ENT findings say Weakness / Sluggish of right vocal cord. I am a 42 y/o male. Can you please suggest a remedy to improve my condition? Will I be able to sing like before?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As a result of stroke, there is almost always a weakness and palsy of palate, pharynx and larynx. Even, slurring of speech is a cardinal or diagnostic sign of stroke.
Do visit a speech therapist, continue physiotherapy and take nourishing diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
