What Causes Sore Throat With Productive Cough And Ear Pain?

I have had several sinus infections in the last few months. April 10th i had another with both ears involved. I took 10 days of an antibiotic and was better for a while. It is now May the 7th and I have been suffering for a week with sore throat and ear ache and a bad cough with some mucus which is very thick and pale green. Should I go back to my ENT asap or try a different Dr. I seem to get the same reaction every time I go. I am 68 and am worried about too many antibiotics.

Hi,

Your symptoms and signs tell again sinus infection, as mucus is is thick and greenish. It is important for you to have another antibiotic treatment because beside sinuses there are involved ears too.

A viral infection may have boost sinus infection but left untreated brings more serious infection. I suggest an othorhinolaryngologyst visit and a mucus sample test to determinate the bacteria that causes recurrent sinusitis.
