What Causes Soreness And Itchiness In The Throat?

I have a bit of a scratchy throat. Mild, at best. However, in the past, any sore throat would signal the beginning of a cold - followed by the runny nose/coughing/sneezing. However, this mild soreness has persisted for close to a week with no sign of the typical accompanying cold symptoms. My daughter had strep about 3 weeks ago, but has since been treated, and it has subsided. Is it possible that I somehow caught it?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain soreness and itchiness of throat can be due to throat infection caused by bacteria or virus..
At times it can also be due to acid reflux..

I would suggest you to start doing warm saline gargles and take Ibuprofen for relief..
Along with it sip on plenty of warm water and suck throat lozenges..

If it does not improve then you need to consult an ENT Physician and get evaluated and a throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case if it is due to infection then antibiotics will be advised..
