What Causes Soreness And Numbness On The Buttocks After A Radiofrequency Ablation?

I had the radiofrequency ablation procedure on my lower lumbar area on the right side. This was almost two weeks ago and my right buttock is still very sore and somewhat numb. I plan on seeing my pain management specialist in 3 weeks as a follow up but just wanted to now if this is a concern. It was a painful procedure with no anesthesia or benzodiazepine (my choice). Not sure if it worked with this soreness. My lower back is not in as much pain, however. I look forward to your response and thank you in advance.

Hello,

Well, if there is pain, then some nerve is certainly able to work and transmit pain. This would not be there at 2 weeks generally. if the ablation didn't work or if other areas near it were injured and not killed off are twoo possibilites. examination and directly interacting with you would narrow it down, but i can still give general information.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
