What Causes Soreness And Redness In Shin Area?

Hi,I m concerned about my husband s sore shin area. He noticed it 1week ago while away fishing, and doesn t remember doing anything to it. The area is redenned, swollen, a bit shiny, with crepitus. He can walk but it is uncomfortable. I ve got an ice pack on it, elevated and he took ibuprofen today to see if this helps.Any thing else?Thanks.

This can be cellulitis which is the inflammation of the skin tissue, this can spread to the other parts of the leg so you need to visit the doctor soon to start antibiotics like amoxiclav with clarithromycin. Meanwhile keep the leg elevated and wash it with soap and water and start antibiotics soon.
