What Causes Soreness And Spongy Feeling On The Side Of Knee Cap?
I'm a 61 year old man. I recently tripped while helping my son move and banged my right knee very hard. 5 days later it does not hurt to walk or stand but it is sore to touch on the left side of my knee cap and feels a little spongy. Shall I seek medical treatment or will the soreness and spongy feeling disappear in time as it heals?
If there is no pain or difficulty with movement then you may need to see a doctor at this point.
The spongy feeling is swelling which occurred as part of the body's inflammatory response to the trauma. It will decrease in time. This can take days to a few weeks.
I hope this helps
