What Causes Soreness Around Injection Site Of Shingles Vaccine?
I had the Shingles vaccine five days ago. On day three I developed soreness around the injection site which has since disappeared. On day four I began experiencing intermittent pain/discomfort in my left arm down through my elbow and into my hand. Today, day five after the injection I am experiencing pain/discomfort in the left side of my rib cage, in my left knee and continue to experience the intermittent pain/discomfort in my left arm, elbow and hand. The injection site was my left arm. Could this pain/discomfort be a side effect of the Shingles vaccine? If so how long should I expect this to persist?
This could be due to two reasons. One is after every injection, specially live injections, it's normal to have a some discomfort at the injection sites and surroundings for few days. second reason may be an emerging infection ( or an abscess) at the injection site which has to be taken seriously. But if it's an infection usually the pain and soreness become more progressive day by day and functions of the hand become more and more difficult. Also you might develop fever if its due to an infection. If this is not due to infection its usually settled by day 7 to 10. In your case this is less likely due to an infection.
