What Causes Soreness In Eyelids?

For about two weeks now, my eyelids (started with just left eye, but now both) started out with kind of a crusty condition and then became red, and itchy. I am not alergic to anything that I know of. I have been trying to lose weight (have lost 10 pounds in about 3 weeks) been on very HEALTHY diet of lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, celery salad and VERY LITTLE sugar at all. I have just started cleaning my eyelids with baby shampoo (as suggested on webmd on one place I was reading) but only started that yesterday and no apparent change so far.

it is blepharitis. it should be cleaned with sterile cotton swab. now apply neosporine ophthalmic eye ointment in lid margin. crusts are to be cleaned with sterile swab.
