What Causes Soreness In Head And Neck?

I am 67 and about two months ago I noticed that the middle of my head felt sore to the touch. In addition, the back of my neck feels sore too - like stress. I was in a car accident 1n 1992 and had a fusion of my 5th and 6th cervical discs. What do you think is happening? what kind of expertise should I seek? I cannot pay for this. Please help!
