What Causes Soreness In Rectum Along With Hard Bowels Post Fistulatomy?

3 years ago, I had an abscess drained, then a fistulatomy with a seton. I slacked off my stool softners, had a hard bowel movement with blood. Now, a week later, my surgery site or rectum is sore. Have since started back stool softners and have had BM S with no problem. Could this be my hemorrhoids acting up or reoccurring fissure or fistula?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be suggestive of local infection or inflammation. If this situation persists, I would recommend consulting again with your attending physician for a physical exam. In the meantime, stool softeners are necessary to help reduce the local trauma and inflammation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
