What Causes Soreness In The Left Jaw With Mild Left-sided Facial Swelling?

I have a sore jaw. It only hurts on the left side. It hurts most when I open my mouth wide and when I am chewing. There is also slight swelling on the left side of my face, in the back, towards the bottom of my jaw. Feels like in the area of a gland.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that either there is some problem related to the wisdom tooth leading to inflammation of the gum flap overlying the wisdom tooth and causing inflammation and pain..
The condition in known as Pericoronitis and occurs due to accumulation of food debris between the gum flap and tooth causing infection and inflammation..

But in case if there is also pain associated in the area infront of the ear then it can be related to jaw joint..

For confirmation, you need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like x ray will help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly...

As of now you should take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles and cool compresses and along with it you can also take soft diet..
