What Causes Soreness In The Throat?

My throat is sore in the area of my cricoid cartilage. Its more like a sore muscle feeling when i swallow. Not like the standard sore throat. It is also tender to the touch to a lesser degree. It camebin fairly suddenly and hurts pretty bad now everytime i swallow.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of soreness in cricoid cartilage area, more of a sore muscle feeling on swallowing. Tenderness on local pressure and pain on swallowing every time.
This is called choindritis and the cartilage gets inflamed along with the muscle nearby giving you the classical symptoms.
I would advise you to consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, ENT Endoscopy, investigations and proper prescription based treatment.
It may take 1-3 weeks for full recovery.

I hope this answer helps you.
