What Causes Soreness On Head And Lump On The Neck?

I have had this sore on my head now for four years, it scabs over, but occasionally opens and bleeds. It hurts, however, last night I notice a lump on my neck that is very sore, it is located right next to the spinal column, it continues to hurt today. I do not feel well, but cannot put my finger on the problem. I have no energy, push myself to do my daily chores around the house and make meals.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about a sore on head that is scalp for 4 years, it scabs over, bleeds occasionally, now developed a lump next to spinal column that is tender, have weakness.
It seems that both the problems are different.
The scalp lesion can be seborrheic dermatitis or some skin lesion which needs to be confirmed by examination by a Dermatologist.
The treatment will obviously depend upon the clinical diagnosis and biopsy if needed.
The lump on the neck next to spinal column looks to be a developing abscess.
Get this confirmed by examination by your Doctor as you will need a course of an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory.
If the abscess has been confirmed then you need to get this operated and continue with prescription based medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
