What Causes Soreness Under Bottom Rib?

Hello Dr. just under my right bottom rib is sore to the touch. No pain with standing, walking or any movement just sore to the touch like a bruised feeling when I press just under the bottom rib for about a month or so. Can this be something serious?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely costochondritis. Pain while palpation is characteristic for this. X ray should be taken to rule out other problems. If costochondritis and you were my patient i would recommend using gels of anti inflammatory agents like ketoprofen for local application. If pain is more then i advise to take tab ketoprofen orally for short term. If still pain is severe then i advise local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
