What Causes Sores In Mouth After Stopping Smoking?

A friend stopped smoking for 3 weeks now, after cessation, he has developed sores in his mouth. They go away after a few days and then reappear in different areas. I have done some research but have found no answers other than when a person resumes smoking the sores disappear. I do not wish for him to smoke, but would like a solution to continue smoke free. Thank you!

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The soreness in the mouth is recurrent aphthous ulcers. It occurs following quiting smoking habit. During smoking there will be increased keratinization of the mucosa. After quitting the habit the resistance to mucosal injury is less. It will be aggravated when you have lot of stress.
Nothing to worry.
you can take topical anesthetic and analgesics like anabel gel. apply 3-4 times daily before food and topical steroid like triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% 4-5times daily after food.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
