What Causes Sores In Mouth Inspite Of Intake Of Augmentin For Strep Throat?

Yes Sir. I am a newly diagnosed daibaetic and take 25 u nits of insulin at bedtime. of course I am on vacation and have caught strep throat. I went to the urgent care center who and received augmentin 825 one pill two times a day. I now have a mouth full of sores and my throat is still hurting. is this typical with diabetic people? YYYY@YYYY

Hi Dear ,

Understanding your concern.

As per you query you were diagnosed with diabetes and after that you had strep throat infection and now having mouth sores after taking Augmentin, is just because of lower immunity, susceptibility of your body to microorganisms attack is increased. Mouth sores are very common after heavy dose of antibiotic.

I would suggest you not to panic about it. Complete your antibiotic course but take probiotic after every hour of taking of medication. Drink alot water to keep your body rehydrated. Apply desi ghee on mouth sores or dip cotton in tea tree oil and apply on sores. Do betadine gargles three times a day for mouth sores and strep throat.

Your symptoms will resolve in one week.
