What Causes Sores On The Toes?

My big toes have sores on the outside. Calluses that rub and get sore when I walk in my hiking boots and sandals. I am walking 3_5 miles and training for the Portuguese Camino in August. Maybe my boots are too small? Please help with some suggestion. Thanks Jimmie

Hi.
As per your case history you are having friction dermatitis.
My treatment advice is -
1. Avoid pressure on the affected part.
2. Apply a clobetasaol plus salicylic acid cream like clovate-sl twice a day on the lesions.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
