What Causes Spasms In Muscles Of Left Arm And Wrist?
I ve been having muscle spasms for a couple of years now. I had a cigarette after using a quit smoking aid today and I passed out, I fell off my chair and didn t come to until my brother checked my heart rate. He s got lupus and was worried I had, had a seizure. My question is, if I m having muscle spasms, usually in my hand/wrist or arm, ( though they have occurred in my face and right eye) and they seem to stay on my left side, what could be wrong?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Muscle spasms in the left arm and wrist could be caused by several things, including nerve compression or injury, muscle strain or overuse, electrolyte imbalances, or underlying medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease.
It is important to speak with a healthcare provider to determine the underlying cause of your muscle spasms and to receive appropriate treatment. Additionally, passing out after smoking a cigarette could be a sign of a more serious medical condition and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider as soon as possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
