What Causes Spasms In The Throat While Talking And Eating?

I am a male, 60 yrs old. The main problem is I have been getting a spasm in my throat when I am talking or eating which causes me to choke suddenly. There is some soreness in my neck. My throat feels very dry but there is no pain. I had two nasal surgeries many years ago and I do have asthma. So there is some discomfort wtih some strange symptoms that just started recently. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Terry
