What Causes Spasms In The Upper Abdomen In The Center?

Hi I am experiencing spasms in my upper abdomen in the center. If I turn to pick up something or use muscle to do anything this is when I experience it. Also, I had a c-section last year and it seems my stomach hasn t felt normal since then. Wondering if this is normal from the surgery or something else like pancreas spasms?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, there can be various reasons for pain in upper abdomen as

- Stomach problems with gastritis, indigestion or others

- Intestine motility related issues

- Internal adhesion from previous surgery

- Pancreas, bile drainage system disturbances

- Other conditions

* In our clinic, I provide patient primary relief with anti spasmodic, antacids and later evaluate for the underlying cause as per the clinical concern with ultrasound or CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis.

Hope I have answered your query.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
