What Causes Spinal Bruising?

Hello, My daugter is three and my husband and I have noticed four small dark bruises along the lower quarter of her spine. I am home with her all day and she has not fallen. Since she was born she had a yellow discoloration in the same area and I asked our pediatrician and she said it was just a birth mark however now I am wondering if it is something more.
