What Causes Spitting Up Of Blood In Phlegm From Throat?

I took a shower, ate a hard cookie, drank some milk (which gives me phlegm in my throat), then when I spit up the phlegm there was a little bright red blood. It only happened 3 times, with decreasing amounts, and by the time I brushed my teeth, it was gone. It s been almost half an hour since then and it hasn t happened again. Should I be concerned? Or could something have irritated my throat and that s all? The phlegm didn t seem to come from my lungs, just the back of my throat, so I hope it s nothing to worry about.

Hi.
If the blood was from the throat and just in streak as you have mentioned and you had some hard cookies, it would have been from a small injury from the hard cookie.
Nothing to worry if there is no pain, no re-occurrence ob bleeding .
Keep an eye.
If the blood reoccurs, consult an ENT Surgeon for endoscopy, diagnosis and an appropriate treatment .
Take cold soft foods and water for a few days.
