What Causes Sporadic Sore Throat Along With Fever And Sweats?
16 year old female. Off and on for months: sore throat, fever, wake up sweating even without fever, achy, stomach aches, nausea, white patches back of throat. Tested for strept. Negative. Tested for mono. Negative. Tested diabetes. Sugar level little off. What could this be?
You are suggested to control your blood glucose level at all cost. Avoid soda's, cold drinks, desserts or anything sweet. It is good to know that you are strep negative. To avoid sore throat, use warm saline water to gargle two or three times a day. White patches at the back of the throat can be thrush, infection due to phayngitis (a course of amoxycillin can help) or tonsillitis. If you are sexually active it can be oral herpes / candidiasis, etc. Get clinically examined by an ENT. You may require antibiotics. Get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
