What Causes Spot On Forearm That Flakes Off Often?

I have a spot about the size of pencil erase on my forearm. It forms a white crust which flakes off every so often. It has been there for about a year or so and continues to flake just the top layer and then re grows. It is getting larger but at a very slow rate. Can you tell me what this might be?

Hello and welcome to heathcaremagic

It would very hard to pinpoint the exact diagnosis without having a look at the lesion.

The possibilities for dry scaly patch could be: Tinea, psoriasis, discoid dermatitis etc.

I would suggest you to get a KOH preparation from the scale, if it comes out to be positive then it might be fungal in origin

I would suggest that you see a dermatologist and get a confirmatory diagnosis.

regards
