What Causes Spots On Skin In A Person Suffering From Typhoid?
My son, aged 22 years is having typhoid for the past one week. He is being administered with Cepodem and Dolo 650. The fever, that was initially in the order of 104 degree F, is presently at 101 degree F. Yesterday he complained of itching on the hands with burning sensation and today we observed spots on the skin. Is this th e effect of medicines. What should I do now. K V Ramana, Hyderabad
The description of the lesions suggests the possible diagnosis of urticaria which is a hypersensitivity reaction. It could be as a result of the infection itself or due to the medications of which cefpodem is the more likely cause. It is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.Topical soothing lotions like calamine lotion can be applied over the affected area. Oral antihistamines like fexofenadine may also be used if the rash is itchy.Consult a dermatologist and discuss the above mentioned treatment options.Regards
