What Causes Spotting After Missing Few Birth Control Pills?

I have been on viorele for two years now. I just had my period, and started my pills again Saturday. I missed Tuesday and Wednesday pills, and am now spotting.. I have never spotted while on this pill. Could it be that I missed two days after my period?
