What Causes Spotting And Bleeding After Surgical Abortion?
At a 12wk check up baby was found to be unviable (no heqartbeat / growth to 8wks). So then had a procedure to remove the fetus (on the 10th Dec). After the procedure I bled for a few days then stopped, was prescribed drugs to cause contractions to discharge the rest. I got a regualr (in terms of symptoms etc) period on the 18th. Problem being that I now have spotting everyday and still have bleeds on 10th followed by period on 18th and ovulation around the 2nd. Whats going on ? When will this settle down? I had tests (no polups/ cancer) and was even on hormones (10days then wait for next period). But the spotting never goes away.
welcome to Health care magic. 1.D&C dilatation and curettage after missed abortion - bleeds after a week time. 2.Seems like incomplete abortion will be the most possible cause, the other causes are endometrial inflammation after surgical / invasive procedure, and trauma caused. 3.In this case you need to get an ultrasound pelvis trans-vaginal done in order to evaluate the status of the uterus, endometrial thickness and ovaries. 4.Depending on the finding it can be treated. 5.In your case its mostly the inflammatory cause post procedure. Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
