General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lower back pain & spotting at 5 weeks of pregnancy is commonly due to infections (Chlamydia), sexual intercourse or due to an internal examination done by the obstetrician.

Sometimes, it can be due to serious medical conditions like placenta praevia, subarachnoid haemorrhage, etc.

You are suggested to meet your gynecologist & get a USG (uterus) done to rule out any factor causing spotting. You may need medication.

Avoid doing heavy work, stay at rest, avoid intercourse. Spotting is not because of gastritis or acid reflux.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
